Caster installation and maintenance are crucial for ensuring stable performance and extending their lifespan. Improper installation can lead to abnormal stress, accelerated wear, and even failure. Lack of maintenance can exacerbate negative environmental and load effects, leading to decreased performance and shortened lifespan.

1. The Impact of Installation Quality

Installation is fundamental engineering that directly determines the stability of casters. Inaccurate installation (skewed or not vertical) can overload individual casters, causing problems such as sticking and unusual noises. Mismatched components (such as undersized screws or improper bushing clearance) can cause loosening, wobble, or binding. Uneven load distribution (such as insufficient number or improper placement) can overload some casters, resulting in wheel flattening, bracket deformation, or bearing fracture. Physical damage during installation (such as knocks and scratches) can damage the protective coating, accelerating rust or aging. Direct contact between dissimilar metals can also cause electrochemical corrosion, significantly shortening the lifespan.

2. The Impact of Maintenance Quality

Maintenance is routine care that can delay aging and maintain performance. Inadequate cleaning can allow impurities to enter bearings and clearances, leading to sticking or even locking. Insufficient lubrication or the wrong grease can cause bearings to grind dry, overheat, and eventually seize. Failure to promptly address looseness and wear can trigger a vicious cycle, exacerbating overall damage. Inadequate rust prevention and maintenance can lead to widespread metal corrosion and structural failure. Untreated wheel aging (such as rubber cracking or PU hydrolysis) can lead to a loss of cushioning capacity, damaging the bracket and bearings. Long-term unused and unmaintained conditions can cause permanent deformation or rust and seizure.

3. Summary
Installation is the "foundational guarantee" of performance, while maintenance is the "life extension." Proper installation ensures even load distribution and stable operation of casters; sound maintenance can extend the lifespan by 2–3 times, especially in harsh conditions. Both are essential; proper installation and regular maintenance are crucial to maximize the efficiency and durability of casters.
