How to choose the right nylon caster for your specific needs

Selecting nylon casters requires careful consideration of the actual use scenario and core requirements. The following five key factors should be considered:

First, determine the load capacity. This is a fundamental consideration. Calculate the load capacity of a single wheel based on the total weight of the equipment or cargo (including the caster's inherent load margin). In typical scenarios, it's recommended to allow a 20%-30% safety margin. For example, if a cart weighing 400kg is equipped with four casters, each wheel should be rated for at least 120kg to prevent deformation due to overload.

Second, consider the appropriate use environment. For flat surfaces (such as tile or concrete), choose ordinary nylon wheels. For rough surfaces (such as concrete floors in workshops or outdoor gravel roads), it's recommended to choose wear-resistant nylon wheels with glass fiber reinforcement for improved wear resistance. If the nylon wheels will be exposed to weak acids, bases, or grease, confirm that they have been chemically modified to prevent swelling. For low-temperature environments (such as cold storage below -20°C), choose low-temperature-resistant nylon wheels to prevent hardening and cracking.

Next, consider functional requirements. For flexible steering (such as office chairs and tool carts), choose universal nylon wheels with double ball bearings for smoother rotation. For fixed direction (such as shelves for linear transport), choose fixed nylon wheels. For temporary fixation, nylon wheels with brakes are recommended, preferably fully enclosed brakes to prevent debris from getting stuck and affecting braking.

Finally, consider installation and maintenance. Select a wheel frame with corresponding specifications according to the size of the equipment installation hole (such as hole diameter and installation height). Cold-rolled steel is preferred as the material of the wheel frame, which has a more stable load-bearing capacity. For ease of daily maintenance, it is recommended to choose a wheel frame with a detachable body and frame, which makes subsequent replacement or cleaning more convenient. At the same time, confirm whether there are matching lubrication accessories to extend the service life.
