Core Requirements for Trash Can Casters
Trash can casters must meet the three core requirements of "carrying trash weight, withstanding complex environments, and ensuring easy movement." Specifically, they must meet the following five key requirements, covering performance, environmental adaptability, safety, and user experience:

1. Strong load-bearing capacity and creep resistance: Accommodating dynamic changes in trash weight
Trash can loads are "dynamic" (the instantaneous impact when trash is dropped, and the continuous pressure when fully loaded). Casters must have a stable load-bearing capacity:

High load-bearing adaptability: The load-bearing capacity must be matched to the capacity of the trash can (e.g., a 50L household trash can caster must have a single wheel load capacity of ≥15kg, while a 240L commercial trash can caster must have a single wheel load capacity of ≥30kg). A 20%-30% safety margin must be reserved to prevent wheel collapse due to excessive trash weight (e.g., accumulated water in wet trash).

Excellent creep resistance: Long-term full load (e.g., a commercial trash can with a 240L capacity) When left unused for 12 hours (within 24 hours), the wheel body must deform ≤ 5% (e.g., polyurethane or glass-reinforced nylon) to prevent wheel flattening, jamming, and, in particular, "axle drift" caused by creep in low-quality plastic wheels.

2. Corrosion and Stain Resistance: Resistant to Chemical and Physical Attacks from Waste
Trash can casters are exposed to long-term waste leachate and stains and must be highly corrosion-resistant and easy to clean:

Chemical Corrosion Resistance: The wheel body and axle material must be resistant to acids and alkalis (e.g., the mild acidity of kitchen waste leachate and the mild alkalinity of cleaning and disinfecting water). Nylon (resistance to mild acids and alkalis), polyurethane (resistance to chemical solvents), or stainless steel axles (rust resistance) are preferred to prevent rust and seizure of metal axles and corrosion and cracking of plastic wheels.

Stain Resistance and Easy Cleaning: The wheel surface must be smooth and free of visible gaps (e.g., one-piece molded wheels) to prevent debris (e.g., vegetable leaves, paper scraps) from becoming lodged in the wheel surface gaps, reducing odor growth. It can be easily rinsed clean with water or a standard detergent, requiring no complex maintenance.

3. Quiet and Stable: Suitable for Multiple Indoor and Outdoor Mobility
Trash cans often need to be moved in noise-sensitive environments such as residential areas and office buildings. Therefore, casters must be both quiet and stable:

Low-noise rolling: The wheels must have a certain degree of elasticity (such as polyurethane or rubber-coated wheels), with friction noise ≤ 50dB (equivalent to normal conversation) when in contact with the ground. Avoid the harsh "squeaking" sound produced by metal or hard plastic wheels on tile or concrete floors.

Bump-resistant and stable: The wheel tread width must be ≥ 30mm (≥ 50mm for commercial trash can casters), and the wheels must have slight shock absorption properties to cushion minor bumps on the ground (such as tile joints and small stones) during rolling, preventing the trash can from tipping and spilling.

4. Anti-slip and Wear-Resistant: Suitable for Complex Indoor and Outdoor Surfaces
Trash cans are used on both smooth indoor tile floors (such as kitchens and office building corridors) and rough outdoor surfaces (such as residential garbage stations and parking lots). Casters must be highly anti-slip and wear-resistant:

Anti-slip grip: The wheel surface must have a suitable texture (such as serrations or diamond patterns) and a coefficient of friction ≥ 0.6 in humid environments (such as rainy days outdoors and water-stained kitchen floors) to prevent slipping during operation.

High wear resistance: The wheel material must withstand long-term rolling wear (e.g., nylon wheel wear rate ≤ 0.1g/1000 revolutions, polyurethane wheel ≤ 0.3g/1000 revolutions). Especially for outdoor use, it must withstand friction wear on concrete and asphalt surfaces, ensuring a service life of ≥ 1 year (≥ 2 years for commercial use).

5. Safety and Convenience: Matching the Trash Can's Usage Characteristics
Casters must meet safety standards and be compatible with the trash can's "tipping and securing" requirements:
Safety Structural Design: The caster must be securely connected to the trash can (e.g., threaded or welded) to prevent it from falling off under load. The wheel rim must be rounded and free of sharp edges to prevent scratches on the floor or people during movement.
Convenient Functionality: Commercial or large trash can casters can be equipped with a "brake lock" feature (e.g., a dual-brake mechanism that locks both the wheel and steering) to secure the position during dumping. Furthermore, the caster's steering angle must be ≥180° to facilitate maneuvering in narrow spaces (e.g., elevators and hallways).
