The following common faults and solutions may occur with frequent use of coin-operated locks on supermarket trolleys:

Coin-Related Faults

Unable to insert a coin:

Cause: The coin slot is clogged with debris such as paper scraps or dust, or the coin slot components are deformed, narrowing the slot.

Solution: First disconnect the power supply (if available). Carefully clean the coin slot with a small brush, tweezers, or other tools. If any components are deformed, try correcting them with appropriate tools. If correction is not possible, contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Coin gets stuck after inserting a coin:

Cause: Foreign objects in the coin slot, or a malfunction in the mechanism (such as the spring or slider).

Solution: Carefully disassemble the casing according to the instructions and remove any foreign objects from the slot. If the mechanism is faulty, replace the spring if it's failing, or apply lubricant if the slider is stuck.

Unlocking after inserting a coin:

Cause: The coin detection device is malfunctioning and cannot recognize the coin; the unlocking mechanism is malfunctioning and cannot unlock. The electronic coin lock may also have a circuit problem.

Solution: For mechanical coin locks, check the detection mechanism and repair or adjust components; inspect the unlocking mechanism and replace damaged parts; for electronic coin locks, use a multimeter to test the circuit and repair any shorts or opens. If the control board is faulty, contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Unlocking Related Problems

Key Difficulty Inserting or Turning:
Cause: Foreign matter in the keyhole, rust, or wear and seizure of internal lock cylinder components.
Solution: Use an air blower to remove foreign matter. If rust is present, spray rust remover before inserting and turning the key. If there is an internal lock cylinder problem, apply lubricant. If this does not work, replace the lock cylinder.

Lock Catcher Won't Open After Unlocking:
Cause: Failed lock catcher spring, deformed or stuck connecting rod.
Solution: Open the casing. If the spring is failed, replace it. If the connecting rod is faulty, try to correct it. If repair is not possible, replace the component.

Coin Return Related Problems

Coins Not Returned After Returning the Vehicle:
Cause: Failure in the coin return mechanism, such as a malfunctioning spring; a malfunctioning coin return detection mechanism that cannot recognize the vehicle return.
Solution: Check the coin return spring. If it is failed, replace it. Check the detection mechanism and repair or adjust it.

Coins get stuck during return:
Cause: Foreign objects in the return channel or mechanical problems.
Solution: Disassemble and inspect, remove any foreign objects, and lubricate any areas of the coin lock.
If the problem persists after tackling it yourself, contact the coin lock manufacturer's after-sales service for professional assistance.
