Nylon casters are widely used in various applications due to their excellent engineering plastic properties. Their key features are as follows:
Physical Properties:
High Strength and Hardness: They have a high Shore hardness (approximately 70D-85D) and excellent load-bearing capacity (typically 100-300 kg per wheel). Glass fiber reinforcement can reach loads exceeding 300-800 kg. They resist deformation under heavy loads and are suitable for industrial equipment and heavy-duty shelving.
Excellent Wear Resistance: Their stable molecular structure slows wear on rough surfaces like cement and steel, resulting in a long service life and reduced replacement costs.
Excellent Self-Lubrication: They offer low rolling friction, enabling flexible and effortless rotation, reducing frictional heat and extending service life.
Chemical Properties:
Chemical Corrosion Resistance: They are resistant to most inorganic acids, alkalis, and salt solutions, making them suitable for use in common chemical environments such as factories and laboratories. However, they are susceptible to water absorption, and humid environments may cause a decrease in strength and hardness.
Good Temperature Resistance: Long-term use temperature is approximately 80-120°C (modified nylon can reach 150-200°C for short periods). Its shape and performance are stable at high temperatures (superior to PU, which tends to soften). However, it can be brittle at low temperatures (cause caution when using below -10°C).
Other Features:
Lightweight: Compared to metal casters, these casters are lighter, reducing the burden on equipment and making them easier to move and install, making them suitable for carts, shelves, and other applications.
Good Moldability: Injection molding can efficiently create complex shapes to meet diverse needs at a manageable cost.
Disadvantages: The color palette is relatively monotonous, and the elasticity, shock absorption, and quietness of nylon casters are inferior to those of
PU and rubber.
Summary: Nylon casters' core advantages lie in their high load capacity, high wear resistance, self-lubrication, chemical resistance, and lightweight, making them a reliable choice for heavy industrial loads and common chemical environments.
