There are many industry standards and testing methods for caster materials. Common standards include GB/T 14687-2011, QB/T 4765-2014, etc. The test methods cover load-bearing capacity testing, wear resistance testing, etc.
The following is a specific introduction:
Industry Standards
GB/T 14687-2011 "Industrial Casters and Wheels": This is an important standard in the field of industrial casters and wheels, and stipulates various parameters and technical requirements of industrial casters and wheels. The standard clearly stipulates the rated load, steering clearance, installation height, etc. of casters, and also specifies the representation methods of parameters such as wheel diameter, load-bearing capacity, etc. of casters and wheels of different models and specifications, which helps enterprise production and user selection.
QB/T 4765-2014 "Castors for Furniture": proposed by the China Light Industry Federation, non-powered mobile casters suitable for furniture. The standard stipulates the terms and definitions, classifications, requirements, test methods, etc. of furniture casters, and provides requirements for indicators such as surface quality of metal parts, casters' wheel diameter deformation, and provides specific test methods, such as conductivity measurement methods.
T/ZZB 1890-2020 "Polyurethane Hard Casters": stipulates the terms and definitions, types, structure and basic parameters, basic requirements, technical requirements, test methods and other contents of polyurethane hard casters, and is suitable for hard casters made of polyurethane elastomer materials with resilience of more than 50%.
Test Method
Load-bearing capacity test: According to GB/T 14687-2011, the casters are installed on a specific test device, gradually increase the load to the specified rated load, and maintain it for a certain period of time, observe whether the casters are deformed, loose parts, etc., to determine whether their load-bearing capacity meets the standards.
Wear resistance test: It can simulate the actual rolling situation of casters in daily use for testing, and it can be divided into obstacles and obstacle-free. During the test, the casters should not have parts to disengage, and they should be able to perform functions such as rolling and rotating around the shaft normally after the test is completed.
Salt spray anti-corrosion test: mainly tests the salt spray anti-corrosion resistance of caster metal parts after surface treatment. Expose the casters to a salt spray environment. After a certain period of time, observe whether there is rust on the surface of the metal parts to evaluate their corrosion resistance.
Resistance performance test: According to QB/T 4765-2014, install the caster on a metal plate, apply 5% to 10% of the rated load in the vertical direction, and use a megohmmeter to measure the resistance value between the mounting plane of the caster or the shaft and the metal plate to determine whether the caster is conductivity or antistatic type, and whether its resistance meets the requirements.
Impact test: Install the casters on a test equipment with a horizontal, flat, smooth and clean steel test surface, and apply a load vertically downward to the casters, so that the casters can move in a straight line of 1m distance through two metal obstacles, and observe the deformation of the casters' wheel diameter and whether the parts are separated and loose.
