TPE casters' specific performance in terms of vibration and noise reduction

Thanks to their core properties of "elastic cushioning + flexible contact," TPE casters offer excellent performance in both vibration and noise reduction, making them suitable for applications requiring low vibration and low noise, such as medical, office, and home use. Their specific performance can be analyzed from two perspectives: data-driven results and application suitability.

In terms of vibration reduction, TPE casters effectively absorb ground impact. Their moderate elastic modulus (approximately 0.1-10 MPa) allows them to deform 5%-10% when encountering minor floor bumps (such as 2-5 mm thresholds and seams), reducing the impact force by 40%-60%. For example, in medical settings, when pushing a transport cart loaded with reagent tubes through corridor joints, TPE casters can keep reagent level fluctuations to less than 5mm, far less than hard nylon wheels (fluctuation of approximately 15mm), preventing spills. In residential settings, when moving a sofa through a wooden floor joint, TPE casters can reduce vibration transmission by over 80%, preventing items on the sofa from toppling over.

TPE casters also offer exceptionally low rolling noise. On smooth epoxy or wooden floors, rolling noise is typically 30-40 decibels (equivalent to library ambient sound), 20-25 decibels quieter than hard plastic wheels (55-65 decibels) under the same load, and 10-15 decibels quieter than conventional rubber wheels (45-50 decibels). In specific scenarios, when pushing an office chair with TPE casters, the noise is barely noticeable from a distance of one meter, preventing disturbance to nearby colleagues. When moving a nursing cart in a hospital ward, the noise level can be kept below 35 decibels, avoiding waking resting patients. This is due to the flexible contact between the TPE and the floor, which reduces the "hard-on-hard" friction and impact noise, while also eliminating the resonant noise of metal components.

Note that the vibration and noise reduction effects are affected by floor conditions: On rough concrete floors (with sand or gravel), the vibration reduction effect of TPE casters decreases by 15%-20%, increasing the noise level to 45-50 decibels. However, this is still better than most rigid casters and can still meet low-to-medium noise requirements.
